At Readings we value the importance of community and believe that one of the ways we can support each other is by helping those worse off than ourselves. Not only do we look to support worthy local causes but we also like to encourage those around us to do the same.
Charity Link is a Leicestershire charity which helps over 8,000 vulnerable individuals and families each year by providing everyday items that the majority take for granted, such as a bed to sleep in or a cooker to prepare a hot meal.
It’s because of our aim to give back to our local community that we support Charity Link, which helps local people in poverty, hardship or crisis. Here are some of the ways that the team at Readings is able to support Charity Link:
- We have a food bank bin here in the office, which we regularly fill and they collect.
- We donate £25 for every property we sell to Charity Link, asking our vendors to do the same.
- We’re holding a charity auction/networking event on September 8, with all proceeds from the auction going to Charity Link.
In the words of Readings Director Will Ravenhill: “Readings Estate Agents has been a part of the local community for a long time, having helped those looking to buy, sell or rent a home in Leicestershire for many years. We’re incredibly grateful to the individuals and families of Leicester who keep coming back to us again and again, which is why we want to give something back in return and have developed an association with Charity Link over the last year.”
Another Charity Link event which the team at Readings are all getting behind is their very first Leicestershire 3 peaks challenge.
The challenge takes place on September 25 and will involve a 15 mile course which starts and finishes at Bradgate Park. The route includes the peaks of Old John Tower, Beacon Hill and Leicestershire’s highest peak, Bardon Hill (which, at 912ft, is just 88ft short of a mountain!).
As teams and individuals power walk through some of the county’s most beautiful (and physically challenging!) countryside, the goal is to finish the route within six hours.
Anyone can take part in The Leicestershire 3 Peaks Power Walk. For more details visit www.charity-link.org/events/challenges or email the charity communications and fundraising officer at email@example.com for an information pack.
